The main purpose of the Student Council centers on maintaining open channels of communication within the school and community and fostering leadership skills and opportunities. Student Council is a vital communication and service link among the administration, faculty and students. Meetings are open to the entire student body.
Student Council elected membership consists of executive officers. The Student Council is responsible for organizing Spirit Week and Homecoming activities, the St. James Project, spirit assemblies, the Frosh Welcome Day, and relief drives, as needed, each year. The goal is for all students to feel welcome as members of the Peace community, to foster leadership, to participate in service activities and to have fun together.
All positions are open to students who maintain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or above and who are in good disciplinary standing. Elections for sophomore, junior and senior class positions are held in spring. Frosh class elections occur in the fall.
The students of each class level elect class officers each spring to serve the following year. All elected positions are open to students who maintain a minimum grade point average of 2.0 or above and who are in good disciplinary standing. Class councils are assigned to their moderator’s homeroom for the duration of the year. Class council meetings are open to all class members during the school year and focus on events relevant to each class.
