How Can I Help?
Unity and Harmony are Symbols of Queen of Peace
For the past 55 years, the following expressions have branded our beloved Queen of Peace: Educating and Empowering Women of Peace; Women of Peace Lead; Women of Peace are Confident, Competent and Courageous; Women of Peace Live the Values of Truth, Compassion, Justice, Partnership and Community. These words are the foundation of a Queen of Peace education.
Today and everyday hereafter, Women of Peace all over the world will continue to educate, empower, lead and give back to their communities. I truly hope you will always see the value of your Peace education throughout your life.
I am humbled by and grateful for the support that our Women of Peace have provided throughout my 22 years with the Peace community. I have been blessed to watch thousands of girls flourish at Queen of Peace and continue their success in college, career and life. I will always cherish the conversations and the time I have spent with our amazing Women of Peace. Many alumnae acquaintances have grown into true friendships. Memories of these happy years will resonate forever in my heart.
This past September, a 1966 alum shared: “I have Queen of Peace to thank for making me the person I am today.” Shortly after her testament, I received an e-mail from a 2000 alum who wrote: “My years at Queen of Peace were the best years of my life. Thanks to QOP, I am the woman I am today.” I hope you too cherish your Peace experience.
The students and staff are grateful for the outpouring of compassion that our alumnae are showing to our community during this challenging time. Thank you for sharing your experiences and gratitude for Queen of Peace. Your gifts and acts of kindness are greatly appreciated, and your appeals to help your Peace family are an inspiration. My response to all the alumnae who are asking, “How can I help?” is this: if Queen of Peace holds a special place in your heart, please help a current Peace student start anew.
The Queen of Peace Student Transition Fund has been established so that current Queen of Peace Scholarship recipients can continue to receive their promised financial support after Queen of Peace High School closes on June 30, 2017. Based on these students’ eligibility, the money donated to this fund will be administered by the Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation semi-annually to the Catholic or private high schools these girls attend, until they graduate. This financial support was promised to these students, and it is the right thing to do.
If you have supported Peace students throughout the years, I ask you to please give to this significant cause; if you have always considered donating to our appeals, but it was never the right time, please reflect on helping today.
I am asking you to help us reach our goal of $300,000 by June 1st. Please be one of our 15,000+ Peace alumnae to help. If 3,000 alum would give a one-time gift of $100.00, this goal will be met, and it will be you and other Queen of Peace alumnae that fulfilled this financial promise to our young women of Peace.
While this amount may not be possible for you, a gift of any size is greatly appreciated and will give our students the opportunities they so deserve.
Women of Peace, I believe in you and I have the faith that you will support these girls. Help them continue to be their very best.
May Peace be with you always,
Director of Development and Alumnae Relations
1999 proud Peace parent
P.S. I hope to see you as we reunite and reminisce at our beloved Queen of Peace on SUNDAY, JUNE 11, 2017
Queen of Peace High School welcomes our Sinsinawa Dominican Congregation, our students and alumnae and their families, our faculty and staff and their families, and our Peace friends to celebrate the Eucharist together at Mass on Sunday, June 11th at 11:00am. After Mass, everyone is invited to tour the school and socialize. Peace apparel and class rings will be available from on-site vendors. I will be mailing invitations in the middle of April and details will be on our website and shared via social media.
